About Rosie
Rosie Downie’s career is dedicated to advancing environmental, social and economic outcomes by identifying synergies and designing for long-term value. Rosie has over seven years of professional experience at EY, where she honed her expertise in climate change & sustainability, innovation, and corporate strategy based in Australia and the UK. This experience spans high-level strategy and vision setting, to hands-on technical skills and practical implementation.
Rosie has worked with clients across a breadth of sectors including agriculture, transport, healthcare and retail to strategically review, design, and implement new service offerings to grow the ‘business of today’ and transform the ‘business of tomorrow’. As a Senior Manager in EY’s Climate Change and Sustainability team, Rosie led initiatives focused on decarbonisation, biodiversity, and sustainability strategy. Rosies dedication to the field of nature and sustainability stems from a childhood growing up in rural Tasmania on a sheep and cattle farm that has also diversified into sustainable forestry, carbon, biodiversity and renewable energy developments.
Experience
- Sustainability Strategy: Rosie has worked with various corporate clients globally to support shaping ambitious and integrated sustainability strategies. This typically includes conducting a materiality assessment, setting a sustainability vision, defining key metrics and targets, and an action plan for implementation. This has also included supporting clients with ESG reporting.
- Decarbonisation: Rosie assisted with building a decarbonisation pathway for the Australian Agriculture sector to reach net zero. Rosie helped write a compelling and practical public report that was used to lobby government towards climate action in preparation for CoP and modelled a hypothetical case study on how social, economic and environmental benefits can be achieved through the carbon market.
- Strategic direction: Rosie led an engagement to conduct a rapid scan of future opportunities for the Australian Agriculture industry, developing a criteria framework to assess these opportunities in line with the companies mandate and presented prioritised opportunities to the Board to inform its 3-year investment strategy.
- Innovation: Rosie assisted with the engagement of over 500 stakeholders in the agriculture ecosystem by conducting interviews, facilitating workshops and regional roadshows. These insights were drawn on to deliver a nation-wide vision for innovation in agriculture with accompanying insights, recommended strategies and a roadmap for execution.
- Carbon and Biodiversity Projects: Rosie has been involved in developing carbon and biodiversity projects in Tasmania. These projects generate high integrity credits to be sold on the open market.
